Lighthouse Point, Florida, in the county of Broward, is 3 miles south of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and 35 miles north of Miami, Florida. The city's inhabitants live in the Fort Lauderdale metro region.
Lighthouse Point provides its residents with a comfortable way of life. It is mostly a residential neighborhood with tennis courts, golf courses, and water sports amenities. There are several different kinds of parks there. In the city, various events, shows, and programs are frequently held.
At one time, the region that is today known as Lighthouse Point was covered with mangrove swamps and productive agriculture. Ms. Juliette Becker constructed the first home in this neighborhood in 1947. R.E. Bateman bought property for expansion in 1951. In 1956, the town of Lighthouse Point became a legal entity. Venetian Isles and Lighthouse Manor were added as subdivisions between 1957 and 1969. Pompano Waterway Estates and Coral Key were subsequently recognized as being a part of Lighthouse Point in 1970.
Many subdivisions, including Venetian Isles, Wooler Heights, and Lighthouse Manor, had been built by the 1970s. Officials concentrated on providing a wide variety of services to a constantly expanding population in an endeavor to develop into a full-service city. This initiative led to the creation of several stunning parks and mini-parks. In 1973, a library was built and cable TV was introduced.
The city had started to expand by the 1980s. Nowadays, Lighthouse Point is a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood hidden in the picturesque Broward County, Florida. The Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse, which is situated at adjacent Hillsboro Beach, gave the community its name. According to the 2015 census, it was included in the Miami metropolitan area, which was home to nearly six million people.
10,344 people called Lighthouse Point home in 2010. The city is just 2.4 square miles in size, 4.58 percent of which is covered by water. Deerfield Beach is to the north, Hillsboro Beach to the east, and Pompano Beach to the west and south.
