Coral Springs History

Coral Springs is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States, northwest of Fort Lauderdale. It is formally known as the City of Coral Springs. The city has a population of 134,394 as of the 2020 United States Census. It is a major city in the Miami metropolitan region, which had a population of 6,012,331 people according to the 2015 census. 

Coral Ridge Properties, Inc., which was bought by Westinghouse in 1966, master-planned and mostly constructed the city, which was formally founded on July 10, 1963. The name of the city is taken from the name of the corporation, and it was chosen after numerous other options were examined and rejected. Despite the name, there are no natural springs in the city; springs in Florida may be found in the central and northern parts of the state.

The 24 square mile city of Coral Springs is tucked away in the northwest part of Broward County. Coral Springs is renowned for its friendly community, strong economy, state-of-the-art recreational amenities, and top-notch educational system. It is difficult to imagine that the same land was only a green bean farm and cow pasture little over 57 years ago given the city's rapid growth and current status as a completely "built-out" area.
